We have concentrated on one of the most salient features of the Cockney accent in Adele's speech in three different videos: an interview, an acceptance speech and a monologue. Adele is an English singer and songwriter born in the Tottenham district of London, whose accent has become an integral part of her public image. Over the centuries, the Cockney accent has long been associated with the working-class in London, specifically with the East End of the city. One of the most salient features of this accent is (TH)-fronting, defined as the production of the voiceless dental fricative /θ/ as the voiceless labiodental fricative /f/.

We focus on language choice as a linguistic means of Latinx identity construction by different celebrities and explore how this is sometimes not accepted by the Latinx community on social media. We have chosen to analyze several videos in which Anya Taylor-Joy, Jennifer Lopez and Jenna Ortega perform their Latinx identities in the US.
In this study of grammatical variation, the variable we will focus on is the “pretérito imperfecto del modo subjuntivo” used in cases of narration of hypothetical or counterfactual events performing an explanatory function. The two variants studied will be the “pretérito imperfecto del modo subjuntivo”, considered the standard, and the "condicional simple del modo indicativo" as the non-standard variant used in what in English would be considered the If clause: “si atendería en un consultorio, ganaría más plata”.
